TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE
We are waiting for the update of the Trex program so that we can order the 15th bench which will be given to Union Street School. We have collected 421 pounds of plastic film towards our goal of 1000 pounds for our 16th bench which will be donated to the Springfield Lions Club Dog Park. To date, 13,572 pounds of plastic film (over 6-1/2 tons!) have been removed from the waste stream we started this project in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw’s Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. Please continue to bring your plastic film to the Springfield Town Library. Update.... Bench 17 will be given to the Springfield VFW and Bench 18 will be given to Elm Street School. NOTE: We need volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

PROGRAM:
New Springfield Town Manager Scott Pickup offered an introduction to his background, leadership approach, and priorities for the town.
During the presentation, Pickup shared insights into his professional experience and discussed his transition into the role of town manager. He spoke about the importance of collaboration between town leadership, residents, local organizations, and businesses in advancing Springfield’s long-term goals.
Pickup highlighted key focus areas for the coming months, including municipal operations, community engagement, and maintaining essential town services. He emphasized a commitment to transparency, communication, and fiscal responsibility, noting that strong partnerships play a critical role in effective local governance.
The Rotary Club presentation also provided an opportunity for members to ask questions and engage in discussion about current issues facing the community and the town’s direction moving forward.
Pickup expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet with Rotary members and acknowledged the organization’s longstanding role in supporting community initiatives throughout Springfield.
