ANNOUNCEMENTS 
 
• Karen visited the Beacon Falls Rotary Club and brought home a banner. 
• Raffle tickets and posters for the 2026 Penny Sale are available. For more info, contact Jeff.
• Butterfly Release was successful.
•We will be having a joint social meeting with the Charlestown Club in the evening on Thursday, October 1 at Fort #4 in Charlestown.  
•Club will be funding a foursome at the District Golf Tournament. For more info, contact Rod.
Board voted to donate $250  to purchase software and
equipment to improved treatment and vision restoration for visually impaired children at a school in Poltava.
 
TREX PLASTIC CHALLENGE UPDATE
 
Bench #16 has been donated to the Springfield Lions Club Dog Park. Bench #17 has been ordered and will be given to Springfield VFW. Bench #18 is earmarked for Elm Hill School. In the month of August, 315 pounds of plastic film were collected. To date, 16,060 pounds of plastic film (over 8 tons or the equivalent of 12 dairy cows) have been removed from the waste stream since this project started in February of 2023, delivered to Shaw's Supermarket, and heading to Trex Company for recycling. Please continue to bring your plastic film to the Springfield Town Library.
 
NOTE: We need volunteers to help sort the plastic at the Library. For more info, contact Alan.

President Jeff welcomed all to the September 1, 2026 club meeting held at the Springfield Area Parent Child Training Center.  For the thought of the day, he offered this quote attributed to Henri Norwen,"Fundraising is proclaiming what we believe in such a way that we offer other people an opportunity to participate with us in our vision and mission."

The weekly prize of $7 was won by Sue P. The big raffle grows to $315 and only 2 cards left.

President Jeff reviewed the timeline and responsibilities for the Penny Sale. Tickets and prizes should be turned in by Oct. 5. Advertising is appearing in Springfield Reporter and Springfield Cinema.
